I got this after Christmas as my wife couldn't figure out what model I needed. This has worked easily but takes some getting use to since it really isn't as intuitive as a Mac.

The best place for us is in Orange County because the streets start out going East then turn North then South. You get the idea, the roads go all around the map. When we have traveled to South Orange County this is a God Sent. Very happy to have it, and, we are never late anymore when traveling there!

I would recommend this extra item to all. That way when you first get the Magellan RoadMate and are putting in all your addresses the battery will stay charged if you have this plugged in. Great item for those initial times of data input. -- Magellan RoadMate 4700 Charger

i have had many GPS systems, and this by far is the most accurate and easy to operate, it tell you what you have to do and gives you plenty of time to react, so you know what and when to look for to get where you are going -- simplicty of roadmate

It works, though you wouldn't know it just by plugging the GPS into the wall. You have to turn the GPS on yourself to check that the bars are charging. -- it works

The Magellan RoadMate 1470 that this product is advertised as being compatible with requires an input of 5 volts and 1 amp. The charging cord provides 5.5 volts and 500 milliamps (a half of an amp). It's generally not a good idea to use different power ratings than what an electronic component calls for. If the current rating on the A/C adapter had been higher than what my GPS requires, I would not have even attempted it for fear of damaging the device. Since the current was less, I figured it would be okay to try, but thought it might not actually charge the GPS. I tried it, and it did charge the GPS.
I wish the seller would have specified the current and voltage ratings in their listing. The price was so low though that I took a chance. I probably will try to avoid using this cord and keep looking for the correct one. At least I have the mfr's car charger that came with the GPS. -- works, but wrong power ratings
