Connected this to my recently purchased Garmin 255W, and it caused my GPS to go into "USB Mass Storage" mode preventing navigation. Apparently Garmin uses a proprietary mini-USB connector in their cigarette charger, and this direct wire does not properly emulate it. I plan to buy a cigarette lighter female socket and just direct wire that and use the original charger. -- Not compatible with Garmin 255W

The Gilsson Direct Wire Cable for my Garmin Nuvi 760 works great. It allows me to run and charge my Nuvi within its Otterbox case (which was not deep enough to accept the standard mount). I can also turn the unit on and off by plugging-in and unplugging the 12V plug. The Gilsson wire comes without plug on the source end, so you can attach it to your 12V system any way you want. I scavenged an obsolete power cord and soldiered the Gilsson wires the plug (and I'm not even good at soldiering). -- Works great

Bought this, along with a Littelfuse FHM200BP ATO Add-A-Circuit Kit, to install a Garmin Nuvi 255 in a Subaru Outback. Worked great. There's no instructions, so I had to google which wire to connect to source power (the red one) and which to ground (the black one). -- Easy way to hard-wire a GPS
