Case is VERY function for use on belt or attached to backpack or briefcase. Formed semi-hard shell provides good protection. I purchased the Garmin hard case with the intentions of buying a case that not only traveled well but stored my Garmin Colorado safely when not in use. It has lived up to both of my expectations. With the lid design you never have to worry about losing the lid or it being in the way. The rugged outside protects your investment and can take some abuse. I use this case while kayaking and while hiking. I would highly recommend this simple case design. -- Garmin case did the trick
